Lectures
7th, 8th & 9th October
At TAIGF 2025, Stephen Goss will present three lectures that reflect both his
musical insight and his creative curiosity:
7th Oct - Cocktail List: is there a line between arrangement and composition?
8th Oct - Falla’s Homenaje: the case of a much misunderstood piece
9th Oct - Creative Interpretation: reinhabiting the collaborative space
The lectures tie directly into the festival’s program: Homenaje by Manuel de Falla is the set piece for the pre-qualification round of the competition, and Goss’s own Cocktail List will be performed later the same evening by celebrated guitarists Zoran Dukić and Aniello Desiderio.
These sessions offer a rare chance to engage directly with one of the leading thinkers in the guitar world today — whether you’re a composer, performer, or just passionate about the inner life of music.

Stephen Goss is widely recognized as one of the most original and engaging voices in contemporary classical music. His compositions — described as “utterly captivating” (The Independent) and “consistently successful on all fronts” (John Williams) — have been performed at major venues around the world and recorded on over a hundred albums for labels including Deutsche Grammophon, Naxos, and EMI.
Goss’s work spans orchestral, choral, chamber, and solo repertoire, but his deep connection to the guitar — as composer, performer, and collaborator — gives his music a unique voice that blurs the lines between tradition and innovation. He has worked with leading orchestras and soloists across the globe, and his catalogue includes concertos for guitar, theorbo, and even unconventional ensembles.
